Jiggly & Depressing
I had to remind myself a few times that my body just went through a major trauma a few days ago. My body felt like it had not run in months…not weeks. Today’s “run” was more of a slow jog. I did a jog/walk combo…8:1 x 3.
I will need to remember to wear my compression shorts for my next workout. I felt jiggly today. I’m sure it was in my head. I’ve only gained a couple of pounds over the last couple of months.
Happy St Patrick’s Day! Slainte!

Walk with girlie and dog
The weather has been fabulous for this time of year in the midwest…50s. And with the time change there was not excuse not to take advantage of it. You never know when it’ll turn and snow again.
The girlie and I took the dog for a quick walk around the block while we waited for the hubby to get home. They had a date tonight to go the police station’s open house. I am enjoying “quiet mommy time”.
Felt better today…a little crampy, but not like yesterday. The walk helped as well.

Update
It’s been a long weekend. I will be fine, but I’m tired.
First, let me thank you for your warm well wishes, but unfortunately, God has another plan for our family. And we trust Him…may not understand Him…but in God we trust.
Sorry, if some of this is too much information, but it’s helped me to deal with it all by writing this.
I begin spotting Wednesday evening and Friday morning I an ultrasound. The doctor confirmed the fetus stopped growing a few weeks ago. It was over. I elected to go through this as naturally as I could. We left the doctor’s office sad, upset, but determined to move forward.
I didn’t go to work after the doctor. My husband did…he had a few things to do and there really wasn’t anything he could do at this time. I didn’t want to stay home, so I spent some time at the bookstore and the library. Both are calming places for me.
I was home by 3; bleeding and passing clots by 4; and in the ER by 6; d and c at midnight; and home by 2 am. It was a long night. The doctor, nurses and staff in the ER were great. My doctor had called ahead, so they were waiting for me when I arrived. He arrived at 11:30, when it was decided I would need the d and c. He was great…held my hand as they put me under. My hubby was great, too. My mom helped by picking up the girlie from school and shuttling her around for the evening.
The physical pain has been minimal. The cramps today have been the worst. They are getting better. I am hoping to go to the gym tomorrow night and walk.
The emotional pain has been tough. The worst part was telling the girlie. We had just told her Monday night she was going to be a big sister and by Friday night it was over. She took it well. Better than I thought. From what hubby said, it sounds like his mom has taken it hard. Especially, when he said we were not going to try again. That was our shot…and it didn’t work. We’re ok…it’s been the three of us for seven years. We have a great life. The hard part now will be cleaning out the house. We have all of girlie’s baby clothes…crib…stroller…toys…etc…in our crawl space. We’ve been saving them…just in case we decided to have another. Well…we’re not…and it’ll be hard to see it all go.
My focus now is back on my training. I’ve been eating well, but haven’t been keeping my food journal. I need to start doing that this week. I’d like to work at losing the last 20-30 pounds. With hard work I’m sure I can do it by Labor Day.
Thanks again for letting me work though this emotional time via blog.

Eliptical
I wasn’t in the mood to run today. I keep my heart rate low and remembered to drink my water. Luckily, there was no need for a potty break.
This weekend I officially start training for the 10 mile race in May. I’ll be training with a few friends who are also doing the race. We’re going to try to meet once a week to do a long run together. This will most likely be a gym with an awesome track centrally located to all of us….not close enough to me to use more often.
Meeting at the track, will let us stay together without worrying about pace. We can cheer each other as we pass and we’ll always be able to see the others. And for me it as a bathroom. LOL

Crazy Changes
First….how can something the size of a raspberry cause such crazy changes in your body? I need to get a new sports bra with more support. These babies are growing! LOL
And the need to go potty is already getting old. I don’t remember it starting this soon. Maybe I’m drinking more water this time around. But jeez…I hope there are plenty of port a johns on the 10 mile course. I’m going to be visiting most of them. LOL

7 weeks along…
only 33 weeks to go! LOL
I have been feeling great…a little tired, but that might be because we’ve been busy and I haven’t had as much time to work out. Once this week is over, things should get back to normal.
I go for my first OB visit on Thursday. I’ll get the lowdown all the tests available to me as an “older” mom.
We didn’t find out if the girlie was going to be a boy or girl; but I think this time I want to know. Hubby says no…well, I say poop! There is time to convince him.
We haven’t told anyone, yet…except you all. We’ll probably start to tell family and close friends next week…after we tell the girlie. I’m not sure how she’s going to feel. She’s been the only child for so long…she’s also the only grandchild on both sides of the family. She’s not spoiled in terms of getting anything she wants….but she’s spoiled with attention from everyone. I know she’ll be excited, but as the mom, I can’t help but wonder.

Slow, but steady
When I saw the doctor last week, she said I should keep my heart rate down around 140 bpm and drink plenty of water while I run. Well, I went a little slower and kept an eye on my heart rate…I was able to keep it around 140-145 bpm. I did forget my water, so during my walk lap I would stop at the drinking fountain. That might have contributed to my slower pace, too.
No matter…I am happy with the time. As long as I stay under a 15 minute mile, I’ll be ok for the 10 mile race in May.
I was hoping our mild weather last week (30s and dry) would continue this week, so I could do some training outside. No such luck…snow is back in the forecast…could be up to a foot by Monday evening. Ugh….I’m so ready for SPRING!
5 minute warmup - 5.5 laps
8:1 run/walk x 5 - 56.5
5 minute cool down - 6 laps
