How does that happen? I have 2 weeks of workouts to log. I’ve been sick this past week…spent 2 days at home. I’m finally feeling better. Now I just need to find the time to blog…but not tonight. I’m off to bed…night all.

6-15 BODYPUMP
Fun class today. It was crazy humid today….inside and outside.
I woke up this morning with chest pressure…kinda like my lungs were filling up with gunk. At one point today it felt like someone was squeezing me. The feeling passed, but my chest still feels congested. I made it through class without issue and we’ll be sleeping with the windows closed. I hope whatever this is passes fast.

bike ride
I had my hubby get my bike down from winter storage. The girlie was off with a grandma, so I took advantage of Mommy Time and went for a ride.
The ride was good. Hopefully, I’ll be able to get out more during the summer.

I DID IT!!
I really did it. I really finished the 10 mile race.
It wasn’t pretty, but I stuck to goal…15 minute/mile…to finish at 2:30.
My sister and I ran together until we entered the stadium…she ran up ahead and finished about 40 seconds before me. We kept a good 13-14 minute pace until about mile 6.5.
At this time the race people called a code black. We felt fine…it didn’t feel hot or humid. No one told us if we could still finish. We kept going. We still did our 3:2 run:walk combo; although our run was a little slower.
The code black with no information did a mental thing on me….I started to hit a wall. It was hard to get back into the grove. I was getting anxious about keeping on pace. As a big Bears fan, all I’ve ever wanted to was to be on the field. I figured this was my chance…finishing on the 50 yard line. But with the code black and the threat of not being able to finish, I was a mental mess.
Finally, around mile 8.5 a medic on a bike rode by to see how we were doing. He told us the course was still open and we’d be able to finish. That put a little bounce in my step, but the damage was done. We were on pace to finish in 2:20, but I’m satisfied with 2:30…plus I finished.
As we approached the stadium, I could hubby and the girlie…then our parents. The girlie ran holding our hands for a little. We entered and I told my sister to go on ahead…we each had our own moment to finish. I came out of the tunnel with my arms up and took what energy I had left and sprinted to the 50. I crossed the finish line with tears in my eyes! What a feeling!
While we were checking out the lake front, girlie had her shot to finish on the 50 yard line. The kid race was a 50 yard dash….individually…so she had her moment as well.
On a side note…I was a little disappointed I didn’t Mr President out cheering for us…lol. We ran right by the entrance to his Hyde Park/Kenwood neighborhood. We did see Air Force One at O’Hare as we made our way from the ‘burbs to lakefront.
I went 10 miles….not sure I have it in me to go another 3.1 to complete a 1/2 marathon. I am going to focus back on 5ks. I haven’t ran a mile without walking in months.
God bless our soldiers and their families who have serviced…are serving…and lost their lives serving for our great country! Thank you!

walk with the girlie
Girlie and I woke up early on our day off, hoping to go to bed early knowing we need to be up very early tomorrow.
We went for a nice walk through the neighborhood. She’s getting so grown up….her ipod on….singing as she goes. (we only wore one ear bud, so we can hear things around us)

I’m getting ready for Saturday’s big 10 mile race. I did a nice 3 minute run with a slow 2 minute walk. I went 15 minutes out and back. I wore what I plan to wear on Saturday, if I can the laundry done. I even carried a new water bottle, I hope to use for the race. Everything seemed ok…and I’m ready to go.
