I did it!
I finally did it….I made it to Roselle Rd. I run from my house to a paved path that starts at Plum Grove Rd and goes all the way to Roselle. For the last few weeks, I have been running 20 minutes out and turning around to run home….not even close to Roselle Rd. Today I decided to suck it up and keep going. Then I saw it…cars speeding by….I knew I was close. I let out a small cheer when my foot hit the sidewalk that goes along the road. I pumped my arms in the air and turned around to make the trip home. I had to stop and walk a few times going out and coming back, but that’s ok. I was still moving and I haven’t given up. Whoo hoo for me! I’ve proved to myself that I can complete a 5k….now I just need to sign up for one….

Wii Fit - first workout
We were one of the lucky families that was able to find a Wii last Christmas. We love it….it’s a great way to spend time together as a family. Since we bought it, I have been counting down until the release of Wii Fit. I happened to be at Target during lunch and they had it. I bought it.
I couldn’t wait to get home. I set up my profile last night and tried a couple of activities. I got up early this morning to run, but it was storming. I was up, so I went downstairs and did a short workout with Wii Fit. It was fun…and I burned 150 calories in only 30 minutes. Pretty good for an in home workout. I hula hooped….ran….stepped….ski jumped.
Another nice feature of the Wii Fit is the built in scale. It weighs you and calculates your BMI. It offers words of encourgement. I’ll keep you posted on my process.

Seriously??
I guess if I’m blog about my training, I should be honest and include my weight. This is my weight according to Wii Fit. Yikes! Oh well….it is what it is and I’m ready to fix it. I know it’ll take a while to loss the weight correctly, but I’m ready to do it!

Week 8 - Walk to Run
I joined the walk to run program through a local Dick Pond’s store. I have always wanted to run a 5k, but I am not a runner….never really have been. I’m still not a “runner”, but I’m getting there. Our group run this week wasn’t too bad….1 minute run and 1 minute walk. I did run a little longer than a minute, but used the minute walk. I’m sure there are people who can walk faster than I run, but I’m running…and that is all that matters to me.
