Cool run

Short on time this evening, but took advantage of no kid this evening (off at grandma’s). My lungs need to get used to spending time outside in the cool weather. A trip to the asthma doctor might be in order…could be time for an inhaler upgrade. I’m happy with the time…if I can keep that up for 3.1 miles, I’ll be able to finish the next race in under 40 minutes.

Workout:

  • Type: Run
  • Date: 10/22/2008
  • Time: 18:00:00
  • Total Time: 00:10:00.00
  • Distance: 0.77 miles
  • Average Pace: 12:59.22/mile

I see the light

I’m still fighting this cold. I didn’t have much time this morning, so I did one loop around the neighborhood. It wasn’t too fast, but I didn’t walk. I used my new light this morning…pretty cool. I did feel better being out with the light. I still think I need a reflective vest or jacket…anything to make me more visible.

I will finally glow

A few weeks ago, I talked about running or walking early in the morning now that’s still dark. I said I needed a reflective vest or jacket. I haven’t purchased one of those yet…haven’t found one I like.

I was on the RoadID site ordering an ID tag for my shoe…name, address, phone numbers. I was clicking around and found the Firefly lights. I ordered the one with the wriste strap. It came today…very cool. It can either be a steady or flashing light. I have the alarm set to get up in the morning and try it out.

Sniffed and sneezed through it

I did make it to the gym and completed my goal of 30 minutes on the ellipticial. It came out to just under 3 miles…not bad for someone with a cold.

Too late…I’m sick

The movie and popcorn yesterday didn’t stop it. The dang cold came anyway. I put up a good fight, it knocked me down…but not out. The Mucinex is working…my chest doesn’t feel congested. My head is a little stuffy and my nose is running. As gross as it sounds, I’d rather have a runny nose then be all stuffed up. I slept in this morning with the goal of going to the gym after work. I plan to do an easy 30 minutes on the ellipticial. I’ll need to remember to bring a box of kleenx with me…and yes…I do practice good gym etiquette. I will wipe the equipment before and after I use it.

I can’t be getting sick!

No…I’m not gonna let it happen. But it might be too late. I can feel something in my chest…there’s gunk in there…and that’s not good. Mucinex…I need Mucinex fast.

On the plus side it’s Columbus Day and my daughter has no school. I decided last week to take the day off with her. This will give me a day to relax and fight this crud. Maybe a movie and popcorn will help. :)

Hot Chocolate 5k

I signed up for my 3rd 5k. My sister and a few friends are also running. It’s called the Hot Chocolate 5k. The route is along the lake in Chicago. And the after race party sounds awesome…it’s hosted by Hershey. To quote the race web site (www.hotchocolate15k.com)…

“After the race, join us for the SWEETEST post race party you can imagine with CHOCOLATE, CHOCOLATE, and MORE CHOCOLATE! (Just imagine dying and going to Chocolate Heaven, because it exists at the Hot Chocolate 15K/5K post race party!)”

Sounds yummy…

No kid races with this one. My daughter is very disappointed. I am too…but I’m looking forward to a little Mommy time.

Best time yet

I was excited to work out with the walk to run group tonight. I really haven’t done much since the 5k over a week ago.

The first group was leaving as I was pulling into the parking lot. My goal was to catch up to them. They are doing a 1 minute run with a 1:30 walk. When I got going I forgot about catching them…my goal changed to just keep running….no walking. I ran for 1.5 miles….my longest without walking. After that I walked twice…just for a minute each time. And I caught up with the group…even passed a couple of them.

These small accomplishments really mean a lot to me. I look back at my early blog entries and can’t believe how far I’ve come.
